100 words about your scientific interest:
My main research areas are molecular microbial ecology and environmental genomics. The unique Dry Valley ecosystem allows us to examine fundamental aspects of microbial ecology that cannot be resolved in more complex systems, and we hope to do so using cutting-edge molecular genetic techniques and innovative fieldwork. I’m also interested in developing molecular and bioinformatic tools, specifically those related to microbial ecology and metagenomics.
