Bio :

Where do you call home, and what is your nationality?
I was born in Gisborne, New Zealand, although I am currently studying and working at the University of Waikato in Hamilton.

What made you decide to“get into science”? Was there a person or event that helped you with your decision?
I like maps, being outdoors and seeing different landscapes. Studying at the University of Waikato got me into GIS, which enables me to study and map lots of different places.

What is your role in this ‘08/’09 summer Dry Valleys research project?
My role as part of the nzTABS project is modelling predicted available water in the Dry Valleys, as well as GIS support and sample collection in the field.

What do you hope to find out?
That the use of satellite images and GIS can be used to good effect when studying the Dry Valleys. Using these will help us carry out more widespread research and help protect the environment by not having to spend as much time physically entering the fragile Antarctic environments.
